Home again!!!

I've been home now for 1 week and I wish that I was still in Ntshongweni. I wonder what the children are doing everyday and miss getting all of the hugs and seeing them running around. It was so wonderful to see everyone helping each other and supporting each other despite the sadness of losing one of the caregivers. It is my heart's desire to live and work in South Africa. Until that day comes I will keep each person in the community in my heart. Until 2008......

World AIDS Day!!

The last day is always difficult because we have to say goodbye. There was lots going on with finishing up the block work and last minute painting. On of the houses was dedicated by a medical group called Netcare. We did a closing with the beneficiaries and a group came out and danced for us. The most exciting thing for me was a 3 yr old boy. He has elephantitis of the legs and is allergic to the sun so he has to stay in the shade. I would go to see him every morning and give him a hug. On the last day it was overcast and he came out and played and danced and sat with us. It was so amazing to see how strong he is. He didn't speak just simply smiled all week, but as I gave him the very last hug, he said goodbye to me. I would love to bring him home with me so that he could get the medical care that he needs. If I could have just one child for now, it would be him. I can't wait to show you all the pictures. Today is world AIDS day as people stand united in the fight against this disease. I encourage you all to join the fight.
